FULTON, NY – Oswego County Opportunities received a much welcomed holiday surprise when Rob Ross, manager of the Kinney Drugs Store in Mexico asked them to pick up the donation of gifts in response to the store’s Senior Tree. Throughout December customers of Kinney Drugs in Mexico had the opportunity to choose a gift tag from the Senior Tree and donate a gift for an area senior.
According to Program Services Coordinator for OCO’s Senior Nutrition Services, Bridget Dolbear, the response to the Senior Tree was overwhelming. “When Rob asked me to stop in and pick up the gifts I had no idea how many there was going to be. The generosity of the Mexico community was truly heartwarming. Their donations will make Christmas a little happier for seniors in our program,” said Dolbear.
The gifts that were collected at Kinney Drugs in Mexico will be distributed to some Mexico area seniors participating in OCO’s Home Delivered Meals program and those that visit OCO’s Senior Dining and Activity Center, on Church Street in Mexico. OCO’s Senior Nutrition Services administers eight Dining and Activity Centers where seniors can enjoy a hot, nutritious noontime meal and visit with friends. These centers are located in Fulton, Sandy Creek, Oswego, Mexico, Hannibal, Parish, Phoenix and Constantia.
