Lady Bucs Hockey Team Moves To 3-0

Eighth grader Madisyn Whalen (photo) stopped 33 Chazy shots on Sunday morning at Crisafulli Rink as the Oswego Lady Bucs hockey team moved to 3-0 on the new year.

Oswego jumped out to a 4-0 lead and eventually skated away with a 7-3 victory.

Devyn Hutcheson had the game winning goal in the first period, had a two goal performance and picked up two assists.

Taylar Cianfarano once again displayed her offensive prowess with a hat trick and an assist.

Caty Darling and Sarah Mancuso completed the scoring stats for the Bucs while assists were also chalked up by Kaitlin Friel and Mancuso.

The Chazy goalie came up with 15 saves against the Bucs.

Oswego returns to the ice on Friday at Crisafulli to square off against Massena before a 10 a.m. game on Saturday against invading Salmon River.

Varsity B Hockey Tournament

The Oswego Varsity B hockey team lost both games at the Central Square Tournament.

The Bucs fell 5-1 to Westmoreland in the first round game as Chris Pike scored the lone tally.

In net Josh Cooley stopped 37 shots. Tyler Grimshaw had the lone assist.

In the consolation contest the Bucs met the host school with the Redhawks winning 8-3.

Square jumped out to a 4-1 first period lead and Oswego mustered just a goal in each of the final two periods.

For the Bucs, Jeremy Purce had a goal and assist while Tyler Grimshaw and Pike had the other goals.

Skyler Darling finished with two assists while Jake Anderson and Colin Burns each had an assist.

In net Chris Bonner had 18 saves and Josh Cooley seven for the 0-3 Bucs.

Earlier in the week the Bucs fell to Corcoran 10-1 as Pike had the lone score for OHS.

Modified Volleyball Battles

The Oswego girls modified blue volleyball team lost a 3-2 match to Liverpool.

Oswego won the first game 25-12 then lost 25-23 before pulling off a 25-17 win in the third.

However, Liverpool then won 25-17 and 25-16 to gain the victory.

Merry Dowling had an ace while Hannah Fitzgerald had an assist.

Sydney Knight finished with three aces and Julia Kon two aces.

Molly Malone finished with two kills and five aces and Jamie McCarthy had six aces.

Jordan McCauley had an assist.

Destiny Palmer had an ace while Brooke Votra had a kill and four aces.

Caylin Ward had two aces.

Isabella Waterbury had three aces and Mercedes Whiteside finished with an ace.
