Lady Bucs Volleyball Plays Well, Wins Silver Bracket

Oswego traveled to the Southern Tier and after splitting sets all day won the Silver Medal play-off bracket over Windsor 25-11.  Middle hitter Vanessa Sheffield (29 kills, 2 aces, 7 pt.blks.) was named to the All Tournament  team for her play on the day.

In pool play match one, Oswego split with Windsor 14-25 and 25-17.  Sheffield(3 kills, 4 pt.blks.), Benjamin (2 kills), Reed (2 kills, 1 pt.blk.), Hunt (2 aces) and Flanagan (5 assists)lead Oswego.

In pool play match two, Oswego split with Maine-Endwell 19-25 and 25-17. Ross (4 aces), Reed (1 kill, 5 aces), Hunt (2 kills), Sheffield (4 kills), Benjamin (3 kills), and Flanagan (13assists) lead Oswego.

In pool play match three Oswego defeated Chenango Forks25-15 and 25-23.  Stemple (6 assists), Reed (5 kills), Corradino (2 kills), Flanagan (8 assists), and Benjamin (6 aces) lead Oswego.

In pool play match four, Oswego lost 23-25 and 22-25 to Iroquois (PA).  Sheffield (8 kills) Flanagan (19 assists), and Benjamin (6 kills) lead Oswego.

In the play-offs, Oswego defeated Susquehanna Valley 25-14.  Sheffield (5 kills), Hunt (3 kills), and Flanagan (5 assists) lead Oswego.

In the Silver bracket Championship Oswego defeated Windsor 25-11.  Sheffield (7 kills, 2 pt.blks.) lead Oswego followed by Flanagan (9 assists).

The Section III Champion West Genesee Lady Wildcats defeated Oswego 22-25 18-25, and 14-25 in three back and forth sets.  It was only Oswego’s second league loss of the season at 9-2, 12-5.  Oswego returns to league play Tuesday against FM with JV action at 5 p.m. with varsity to follow.

Oswego was led on the day by Vanessa Sheffield (9 kills, 1 ace, 4 pt.blks.), Jessica Benjamin ( 8 kills, 9 digs), and Katie Flanagan (19 assists).  Oswego also received help from Cari Reed (2 kills, 2 assists, 5 digs), Morgan Lavner (8 digs), Lauren Corradino ( 3 kills), Mary Montagnola (10 digs).
