The Oswego Lady Bucs varsity lacrosse team commenced its defense of its sectional title by opening the season in the Sunshine State.
Oswego had been in Florida this past week playing a series of scrimmages and games at the Disney World Sports Complex.
After tune ups with Vernon Township High School of New Jersey and Unionville High School of Pennsylvania, the Bucs opened the new season with a regular game against South Jefferson.
The Lady Bucs walked off the field with a hard fought 10-8 victory.
It was a deadlock at 5-5 at intermission and Oswego managed to outscore the opposition 5-3 in the final half to capture win number one on the year as South Jefferson fell to 2-1.
The senior laden attack was sparked by three goals and an assist by Mikayla Place and Kaitlyn Armstrong while Taylor Giglio added a pair of goals and an assist. Becca Martin also scored and had an assist while Libby Sherman earned an assist.
In goal Tayler Bowman had six saves while at the other end of the field Courtney Zeigler earned seven saves against the Bucs.
