Lady Lakers Rout Medaille

FREDONIA, NY – The Oswego State women’s soccer team improved to .500 (2-2) on the year with a 6-0 rout of Medaille College in its final game of the Blue Devil/Clarion Classic, hosted by Fredonia. Medaille’s loss dropped its team record to 0-4 on the year.

Oswego put up a flurry of goals in the first half, scoring five of its six in the opening 45 minutes. Tia Segretto scored both of her goals in the first, which were also the Lakers’ first two scores of the game. Her first came off an assist from Emma Geyer at 9:29 before scoring again at 19:20 in unassisted fashion.

After Amanda Heberger scored in the 25th minute off a corner kick from Georgia Traynor, Segretto returned the favor to Geyer, setting her teammate up for a goal at 26:23 to give Oswego a comfortable 4-0 lead.

Allison Dwyer capped the first stanza with an unassisted score at 42:16 after settling a rebound and beating the keeper.

Dwyer helped on the Lakers’ final goal as well, sending a corner kick to Farrah Ziaie who notched her first goal in her collegiate career.

Sophomore Melissa Siegfried earned her first career win between the pipes, playing the first 45 minutes and making one save.

Oswego will take a rest over the next week, returning to action at 4 p.m. on Sept. 17 at St. Lawrence University.
