LAKE EFFECT SNOW ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 10 AM EST FRIDAY.

WIND CHILL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO NOON EST FRIDAY.

* LOCATIONS…OSWEGO COUNTY. GREATEST SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE ACROSS SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL OSWEGO COUNTY MAINLY SOUTH OF THE SALMON RIVER.

* TIMING…LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE FRIDAY MORNING.

* ACCUMULATIONS…AN INCH OR LESS THIS AFTERNOON…3 TO 5 INCHES TONIGHT…AND UP TO 2 INCHES FRIDAY. LEADING TO STORM TOTALS OF 4 TO 7 INCHES IN THE MOST PERSISTENT LAKE SNOWS.

* WINDS…NORTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH.

* VISIBILITIES…AS LOW AS ONE QUARTER MILE AT TIMES.

* TEMPERATURES…BETWEEN ZERO AND 5 ABOVE THIS AFTERNOON. LOWS ZERO TO 10 BELOW TONIGHT. HIGHS 10 TO 15 FRIDAY.

* WIND CHILL VALUES…AS LOW AS 25 BELOW.

* IMPACTS…DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS CAN RESULT IN FROSTBITE AND HYPOTHERMIA IN EVEN A SHORT TIME FOR ANYONE OUTSIDE WITHOUT THE PROPER CLOTHING. IN ADDITION. THE LAKE EFFECT SNOWFALL WILL RESULT IN AREAS OF SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED VISIBILITIES AND SNOW COVERED ROADS MAKING TRAVEL ACROSS THE  AREA HAZARDOUS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.

A WIND CHILL WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN A STRONG WIND WILL COMBINE WITH COLD TEMPERATURES TO CREATE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 25 DEGREES BELOW ZERO OR COLDER FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE
OUTDOORS SHOULD USE COMMON SENSE AND DRESS WARMLY.

IN LAKE EFFECT SNOW THE WEATHER CAN VARY FROM LOCALLY HEAVY SNOW IN NARROW BANDS TO CLEAR SKIES JUST A FEW MILES AWAY. IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING ACROSS THE REGION BE PREPARED FOR RAPID CHANGES IN ROAD AND VISIBILITY CONDITIONS.
