WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Oswego State baseball team earned its first win of the season and started off their Spring Break trip in Florida with a doubleheader split against Dickinson (Pa.).
The Lakers (1-4) grabbed game one, 4-2, but their attempt to sweep the doubleheader was spolied by a walkoff double by Dickinson in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 9-8 win by the Red Devils (6-2).
Jon Stevens (Jr., Chittenango, N.Y.) went the distance in game one, holding Dickinson to just two runs, while David Mazzullo (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.) led the offense with a pair of RBI after recording two hits at the plate.
In game two, Mike Stark (Jr., Rochester, N.Y.) paced the offense with two hits and two RBI as the Lakers needed just nine hits to bring across eight runs.
However, Dickinson scored an unearned run on a walk-off double for the victory. Brady Farkas (Sr., Clifton Park, N.Y.) suffered the loss.
