OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Athletics Department and the Laker basketball teams will be hosting a Play 4Kay event on Friday at Max Ziel Gymnasium in conjunction with the national initiative by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
Oswego State will host Buffalo State in a SUNYAC matchup at 6 p.m. with the men’s game to follow.
Both the women’s and men’s Laker Basketball teams will be wearing Play 4Kay shirts during warmups.
All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the games.
Numerous items will be raffled at the game, while a basketball signed by Syracuse men’s basketball head coach Jim Boeheim will be silently auctioned.
Play 4Kay T-shirts will also be available for purchase.
The WBCA “Play 4Kay” initiative is a global, unified effort for the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Formerly known as the WBCA Pink Zone, its goal is to keep the story and legacy of Kay Yow, the former head coach at North Carolina State who died of breast cancer in 2009, at the forefront of the WBCA’s initiative.
