OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s hockey team defeated Buffalo State 4-2 Friday night at the Marano Campus Center Arena. With the win, Oswego excels to 4-3-1 in the conference and 5-4-1 overall.
The Bengals move to 4-4-3 overall (2-3-1 SUNYAC).
After letting up a goal at the 4:29 mark in the first, Oswego responded outshooting the Bengals 58-18 and tallying four-straight. The scoring began at 12:06 in the first as Joey Davies streaked into the zone and sent a cross ice pass that David Ferreira shoveled pass the Buffalo State netminder.
The two linemates would link up again for the Lakers final goal in the third, but roles were reversed with Davies nabbed the score.
The Lakers’ second goal of the night came from a bit of nifty passing as Matt Galati issued a pass to Alex Botten who headed full steam into the zone down the right sideboards.
Botten then fired a pass to Kenny Neil who was cutting in front of the goal mouth.
The puck deflected of the junior’s leg and made it to the back of the net giving the Lakers the lead.
Chris Waterstreet took credit for the Oswego’s third goal as he sent a laser wrister past the goalies glove side that went bar-down with 12:30 to go in the third.
In goal for the Lakers was Adrian Ignagni, who stopped 20 shots on the night and earned his second win of the season.
Men’s ice hockey will continue its SUNYAC play as it hosts Fredonia at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
