Laker Softball Team Registers A Pair Of Wins

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Oswego State softball team sandwiched wins over Grace College and Rutgers-Newark between a loss to Mott Community College on Tuesday. The Lakers defeated Grace, 7-4, before falling to MCC, 9-1, in six innings. Oswego State (4-5) closed out the day with a 4-3 win over Rutgers-Newark.

Sarah Thayer (Jr., Winthrop, N.Y.) pitched four solid innings versus Grace before Ashley Snyder (Jr., Pulaski, N.Y.) posted the win in a relief appearance. Dee Apps (So., Camillus, N.Y.), Snyder, Shannon Baker (Sr., Hannibal, N.Y.), and Justine Abramowski (Fr., Levittown, N.Y.) put together a rally in the sixth inning for a come-from-behind win.

Against MCC, Danielle Groat (Fr., Ballston Spa, N.Y.) suffered the loss as the Laker bats went cold.

In the final game of the day versus Rutgers-Newark, Snyder picked up a complete game victory. Nicole Ouellette (Jr., Castleton, N.Y.) delivered a RBI triple late in the contest to solidify the Oswego State lead.

The Lakers return to the diamond on Friday, March 30 when they open their home and SUNYAC schedule against Geneseo at 3 p.m.
