Laker V’Ball Wins One, Loses One at New Paltz Invitational

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team (5-6) duplicated Friday’s results by posting a 3-0 win (25-18, 25-20, 25-23) over Alfred before falling to host New Paltz, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-22) at the New Paltz Invitational on Saturday.

Stephanie Bailey (So.,  Scotia, N.Y.) controlled net play against Alfred, as she paced the Lakers with nine kills and five total blocks. Chelsea Crump (Sr., Sandy Creek, N.Y.) and Meaghan Puff (Jr., Newfane, N.Y.) turned in solid performances with four blocks and two service aces each, while Crump tallied seven kills and Puff posted five. Kara Michelsen (So., Lake View, N.Y.) ended the match with 24 assists.

During the final match of the weekend, Sabrina Sutton (Jr., Fulton, N.Y.) and Crump led the offense with five kills apiece. Brittany Jones (Sr., Lake George, N.Y.) and Michelsen dished out six assists each, while Kelsey Dignan (Fr., Millbrook, N.Y.), Sutton, and Emily Walser (Fr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) recorded seven digs each.

The Lakers return home on Wednesday when they host Utica at 7 p.m.
