Laker Women’s Hoops Falls To Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, NY – The Oswego State women’s basketball team dropped its game 65-52 to Plattsburgh Friday evening.

With the loss Oswego moves to 4-9 on the season and 2-4 in conference play.

Plattsburgh improves to 6-6 overall, 3-2 in the SUNYAC.

Oswego came out of the gates strong, going basket-for-basket with Plattsburgh through the first five minutes.

The Cardinals then pulled away and Oswego was never able to get back into the game.

The Lakers made an effort near the end, cutting the lead to 11 in the last minute of play, but it was too little too late and Plattsburgh was able to win by 13.

Courtney Ameele led the team with 14 points and Heather Hebert also chipped in 12.

In the paint, Oswego was led by Hebert and Lindsay Johnson who grabbed six and five rebounds, respectively. Mary Mazzella was strong on the defensive side of the ball recording four steals.

Women’s basketball will have an opportunity to bounce back as it heads to Potsdam for 4 p.m. tipoff Saturday (Jan. 17).
