Laker Wrestlers Split Duals At Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Oswego State wrestling team snapped a five-match losing streak by splitting close dual meets with Williams College and Southern Maine at Williams on Sunday.

The Lakers topped the host school, 24-15, after suffering a 22-18 loss to Southern Maine in the opening dual.

Against Williams, the Lakers jumped out to a 9-0 lead thanks to a forfeit and a 3-2 win by Matt Callari (Fr., Williamsville, N.Y.) at 133 pounds.

Oswego State and Ephs split a pair of one-point matches at 141 and 149 pounds. Brandon Heffernan (Sr., Martville, N.Y.) earned a 2-1 win for the Lakers, while Brad Mayville (Fr., Ontario, N.Y.) was edged 4-3.

Nick Rodgers (Sr., Owego, N.Y.) extended Oswego State’s lead to 15-3 with a 6-0 win at 157 pounds.

Scott Bova (Fr., Poughquay, N.Y.) did his part with a 7-4 win at 174 pounds and then Cameron Mills (Sr., Fulton, N.Y.) cruised to a 6-0 win, pushing the Laker lead to 21-8 and sealing the win.

Williams managed to win the final two matches, but it was not enough to catch the Lakers.
