Lakers’ Ward been named to 2012-13 East Region First Team

OSWEGO, N.Y. – Oswego State men’s basketball senior forward Hayden Ward been named to the 2012-13 East Region First Team as voted on by a group of Sports Information Directors in the region.

It marks the third straight year an Oswego State player has been named to the first team, with Chad Burridge being honored in back-to-back seasons.

Ward, who was recently named State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Player of the Year, averaged 18.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game to help lead the Lakers to a 19-8 record and the SUNYAC Semifinals. The senior was also named to the ECAC Division III Upstate First Team. Ward was the only SUNYAC player on the first team, as Cortland’s Jesse Winter and Buffalo State’s Jake Simmons were second team honorees.

Ward finished his career ranked top-ten on the career scoring list at 1,393 points and second in career rebounds with 892. In 2011-12, he also played a major part in the team’s first SUNYAC Championship since 1965.
