Larry Peter Carlson, 69, of South Granby Rd., Granby, died on Monday December 20, 2010.
Born in Worcester, MA to the late, Helge I. and Gertrude (Reed) Carlson on October 28, 1941. He was a graduate of Worcester High School, Class of 1959. Larry entered the USAF from 1960-1964. He received his 2 year degree at S.U.N.Y. Plattsburgh.
Larry was a project manager in documentation and training, for the Xerox Corp., Webster, NY. Larry had a great passion for snowmobiles. In 1985 he organized a group of snowmobilers to form the Southern Oswego County Snowmobile Club, later renamed Fulton Area Snow Travelers. The group now hosts over 500 members and their families. He was instrumental in the formation of the Oswego County Snowmobile Association and worked to institute a continuous network of trails through out Oswego County and to integrate this network into a statewide snow mobile trail system. Larry actively promoted safe and responsible snowmobiling as a family activity. He will be greatly missed by his many friends along the trail.
Larry help to form the Model Airplane Club, Oswego Valley, a member of the Syracuse Thunderbirds Aero Radio Society; Syracuse Corvette Club, Club Cobra; and he held a pilots license.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Martha L. “Martie” (Wright) Carlson; one son, Tim Carlson of Halifax, VA; two daughters, Beth Carlson of AZ, and Julie (Chip) DeLand of Geneva; one brother, Paul (Jean) Carlson of Florence, MA; three grandsons, Zack, Austin and Drew. Services will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, 9250 Fenner Road, Town of Lysander, NY in the Spring of 2011.
