BUFFALO, NY – The Oswego State women’s soccer team was undone by a final-minute Buffalo State goal, falling 2-1 on the road Saturday afternoon.
Oswego’s loss is its first on the conference slate this season, dropping to 2-1-3 in SUNYAC action and 5-5-3 overall. The Bengals advance to 5-6-2 on the year and 2-3-0 in conference.
With the game tied at 1-1 in the waning moments of regulation, Buffalo State’s Megan Chapple fired a shot that was rejected by the Lakers’ Alyssa Glasshagel. Chapple was able to gather her own rebound and put in a goal with just 48 seconds remaining, securing the 2-1 advantage.
Despite outshooting Buffalo State 10-7, Oswego’s lone goal came from a penalty kick opportunity.
Freshman Sarah Grupp was awarded a penalty kick at 68:38 and capitalized, sending in a score to knot the game at 1-1.
The Bengals got on the board first with a score at 19:11. Breanna Knight took a corner kick that found its way to teammate Gabrianna Boldinski’s head for a goal.
Glasshagel finished with three saves for Oswego while Tia Segretto and Emma Geyer led the Lakers with four and three shots, respectively.
The Lakers’ final three games will all be at home, starting with Geneseo at 3 p.m. on Friday.
