Fatal Accident in Oswego County

On March 5th, 2026, at around 12:22 PM, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a two-vehicle motor vehicle accident at the intersection of County Route 4 and County Route 45 in the Town of Palermo.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Peterbilt Tractor Trailer was traveling northbound on County Route 45 when it failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection, and struck a 2017 Chrysler minivan that was traveling westbound on County Route 4.  The operator of the minivan, identified as Suzanne Beyer, was pronounced deceased on scene.  Suzanne was 80 years old and a resident of Palermo.  The operator of the Tractor Trailer, Richard Ward, 62 years of age and from Earlville NY, was transported to Oswego Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the New York State Police, the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, McFee Ambulance, New York State Department of Transportation, Mexico Volunteer Fire Department, and Palermo Volunteer Fire Department.
This incident is still under investigation.
