OSWEGO – At the Oswego Common Council meeting on October 28th, donations and grants were given to Oswego.
Mayor Robert Corradino announces two grants to improve infrastructure. Hopes to receive more grants to reduce taxes for Oswego residents. Corradino gave his mayor’s report for the week.
Mayor Corradino invited representatives from Laborers Local 633. Corradino participated in the tournament last year but did not win. He joked, “Can we do something about that next year?” Laborers Local made a $1,500 donation for the 3rd time in a row. Brandon Walker was the only speaker from the public last night. He brought up concerns about Maurice St to Utica St turning from two lanes into four lanes, causing car bottlenecks and disrupting traffic flow. Corradino went on to say they are planning to redo W 1st, from Utica St to Murray St. Public sessions will happen to allow the public to add their input. Corradino thanked Walker for bringing up his concerns and invited him to attend.
Corradino gave his mayor’s report. First, he thanked the DPW (Department of Public Works) for putting on the creepy crawl, which he attended and enjoyed. He went to the Trunk or Treat event. The Oswego City County Youth Bureau put it on. Volunteers Mary and Rod Wilson were recognized by the council at the meeting. Next, two grants were for upgrades at the Westside wastewater plant. Oswego will receive $7.9 million. The project is estimated to cost $10.6 million. The city of Oswego will only have to pay $2.6 million. Corradino is hoping to get more grants for the dams. Corradino proclaimed November 1st, 2024, Extra Mile Day. Corradino urges the Oswego community to go the extra mile that day and acknowledge people who do go the extra mile.
Resolution 322 approved Oswego YMCA to host the Annual Reindeer Run on December 7th, 2024. Resolution 323 approved Local Law 5 of 2024, amending Chapter 207 solid waste of the code of Oswego. Resolution 324 allows the mayor to execute a letter of intent for $1 million. Resolution 327 approved the bid submitted by GHD Consulting Services for professional services at the Westside Wastewater Treatment plant. Resolution 329 allows the mayor to sign Amendment 1 with GHD Consulting for the Westside Wastewater Treatment Plant improvement project. It authorizes the City Chamberlain to advance funds of $62 million for the project. Resolutions 330 accepts professional service proposals from C&S companies of $169 thousand for beautification and safety improvement projects.
