State Police arrest Volney man following domestic incident

OSWEGO COUNTY – On May 3, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m., State Police in Fulton responded to a domestic incident that occurred earlier that evening at a residence on Mullen Road in the town of Volney.

The investigation determined that a 21-year-old male was involved in a physical altercation with a 16-year-old male during which a firearm was displayed and discharged in close proximity to the victim. The suspect then engaged in a physical assault and caused injury to the victim before the incident concluded.

State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation members and uniformed personnel responded to the scene to conduct interviews, process the scene, and recovered a firearm believed to have been used during the incident.

On May 3, 2026, the suspect, identified as Nickolas R. W. Gartner, age 21, of Volney, NY, was arrested for:

Gartner was transported to the Oswego County Jail pending arraignment. He was later released on his own recognizance following court proceedings and is scheduled to appear in Volney Town Court at a later date.

A Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order was also obtained as part of the investigation.
