CENTRAL SQUARE – On April 18, Leadership Oswego County participants, in collaboration with ARISE, will install an ADA accessible ramp for a Central Square resident from 9 – 11:30 a.m. at the Roxbury Estates.
ARISE and the Leadership Oswego County Class of 2015 team previously built ramp pieces in preparation for the installation.
With generous donations from the following local businesses and organizations, ARISE will be able to build additional ramps this season:
• First United Methodist Church of Oswego
• First United Methodist Church of Fulton
• G&C Foods
• Pat O’Leary
• Raby’s Ace Home Center
• SUNY Oswego
“Leadership Oswego County opened the door for other volunteers and local organizations to participate in life-changing experiences for the people of Oswego County,” said Jim Karasek, manager of Independent Living Services for ARISE.
The ARISE ramp program is the only of its kind in New York State.
Currently, there is no government funding for any accessibility options for residents of Oswego County.
ARISE relies solely on volunteer hours and donations to help give community members the ability to enter and exit their home safely and independently.
