OSWEGO — Leadership Oswego County, a program of the SUNY Oswego Office of Business and Community Relations, will hold graduation ceremonies for its class of 2014 at 6 p.m. May 30, in Sheldon Hall ballroom on the SUNY Oswego campus.
This marks the 21st year of the program that teaches community trusteeship, leadership skills, current issues and networking to a diverse group of community residents.
Leadership Oswego County prepares a select group of county residents to become the community leaders of the future. Each group embarks on a nine-month course of intensive study of leadership skills, Oswego County and its resources, current vital issues and visioning for the future.
Key community members teach participants about the skills and knowledge needed to be effective leaders. Graduates of the program are better prepared to serve the community in the roles of board member, citizen, employee or volunteer with organizations that serve Central New York.
This year, the program will honor three community members: Mayor Tom Gillen of the city of Oswego, receiving the Community Leadership Award; Brian Chetney, director of the Oswego City/County Youth Bureau, the Distinguished Alumni Award; and Dave Bullard of the state Department of Agriculture, the inaugural Friend of Leadership Oswego County Award.
The public is invited to congratulate LOC’s graduates and recognize the honorees.
Tickets, which need to be purchased by May 22, cost $30 per person, which includes dinner and a cash bar.
