HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer County Community College women’s track and field athlete Mary Lenhart of Hannibal, a Criminal Justice major has been named Region III Female Co- Athlete of the Week.
Lenhart is a multi-event athlete and just won the Region III Regional Heptathlon and is ranked second in the National rankings for heptathlon, fourth in javelin, ninth in shot and 12th in the 100 hurdles. Coach Sharon Howell said “Mary’s strength is her throwing events. She is a very versatile athlete as she shows by winning the heptathlon.”
The other Female Co-Athlete of the Week is Taylor Policay, softball, Tompkins Cortland Community College.
Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica.
With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 36 national, 90 regional and 133 conference championships. Herkimer placed third in the 2011-12 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
