My daughter Kelly and I attended the media sponsored school board candidate forum held on Tuesday, May 10th. The purpose of the forum was to introduce the seven candidates vying for the four available school board positions. The candidates gave a brief background introduction and reasons why they are seeking the position.
The media panel consisting of Dave Bullard representing Oswego County Today, Nicole Reitz representing The Valley News and Aaron Curtis representing The Palladium Times, asked a variety of questions of the candidates. All did an excellent job.
As concerned citizens, I hope that we would all take advantage of the information that is being put out by all of the candidates and the media. In addition, a reminder to vote next Tuesday (May 17th) for not only the school board candidates but also for the 2012 school budget.
All school districts, having received less state aid, have had to make difficult decisions in order to provide the best possible education and availability of extra curricular activities to all their students and at the same time, a genuine concern for the tax payer.
All of us can show our support for our young people and for all the hard working school personnel by taking the time to vote on the 17th.
