Library Learning Center Offering Class On Using Consumer Report Website, Accessing Historical Newspapers

OSWEGO – The Oswego Library Learning Center will continue to offer classes on the different resources that are available to library card holders that are a part of NCLS.

The two courses this month will focus around accessing and exploring both Consumer Reports and a compilation website of historical newspapers and articles that have been compiled and hosted by NewsBank.

A Saturday class will also be offered May 13 that provides an overview on the internal components of a personal computer. Patrons will be able to learn more about what goes on inside their PC or laptop and what each essential part of a computer does.

May 11 – Navigating YouTube – 2-4 p.m.
May 13 – Components of a Computer – 2-4 p.m.
May 15 – Introduction to Computers (Session #5) – 10 a.m. – noon
May 15 – Using Overdrive – 2-4 p.m.
May 16 – Google Docs – 2-4 p.m.
May 17 – Navigating ArtistWorks – 2-4 p.m.
May 18 – Navigating eBay (Session #1) – 2-4 p.m.
May 22 – Browsing and Using Wikipedia – 10 a.m. – noon
May 22 – Creating webpages with Wikipedia – 2-4 p.m.
May 23 – Google Drive – 2-4 p.m.
May 24 – Navigating Universal Class – 2 – 4 p.m.
May 25 – Navigating eBay (Session #2) – 2-4 p.m.
May 30 – Using G-Mail – 2-4 p.m.

There are no classes on May 29 as the Oswego Public Library will be closed in celebration of Memorial Day.

Tech Help Open Lab will be held on every Tuesday and Thursday throughout the month from 10 a.m. until noon, along with two Fridays (the 12th and the 26th) to have plenty of open time for patrons to visit the lab with any pressing questions that they have.

The Library Learning Center is located on the lower level of the Oswego Public Library and is open Monday-Friday.

All programs are free and open to the public.
