OSWEGO, NY – In celebration of the Child Advocacy Center’s10th annual Blue Ribbon Ride, the agency has added a number of activities to make this year’s event a full day of family fun.
Scheduled for September 7 the CAC Blue Ribbon Ride Against Child Abuse, a 70-mile ride throughout Oswego County, will begin at 3 p.m. at Wheel-Away Motorsports Route 57 in Fulton and end at Lighthouse Lanes, Shampine Drive in Oswego at approximately 5 p.m.
To celebrate the event’s 10th anniversary, the CAC has added a number of family activities to the day that will be hosted by Lighthouse Lanes in Oswego including:
The inaugural CAC Blue Ribbon Bowl. A family friendly event for bowlers of all ages that will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
A chicken BBQ beginning at 5 p.m.
Drawings for themed gift baskets and other items including an official hockey stick signed by members of the 2013 Calder Cup Finalist Syracuse Crunch.
Live music with local favorites, F5 from 5 – 8 p.m.
“Our planning committee has put together an exciting, full-day event with something for everyone. I appreciate Lighthouse Lanes being our host for the day and I invite motorcycle enthusiasts and community members to join us for a day of food, fun and music,” said Karrie Damm, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center.
Departing from Wheel-A-Way Motorsports at 3 p.m., the CAC Blue Ribbon Ride Against Child Abuse winds throughout Oswego County with a stop at River House Restaurant in Pulaski, where bikers can relax and tour the CAC’s satellite office located right across the street before continuing on and ending at Lighthouse Lanes on Shampine Drive in Oswego across from the Oswego Speedway.
Money raised during the event will benefit the CAC as they continue their mission to assist in the investigation, prosecution and treatment of child victims of sexual and physical abuse in Oswego County.
The CAC is a non-profit organization that works hand-in-hand with local law enforcement, prosecution, child protective services, medical providers, mental health providers, and victim advocacy professionals in Oswego County to protect and serve child victims of sexual and physical abuse.
In 2012 the CAC served more than 320 children and families in Oswego County.

Drivers and riders will also be able to register the day of the event.
A $30 donation per driver, which includes the chicken BBQ and a commemorative T-Shirt and a $20 donation per passenger, which includes the chicken BBQ, are requested.
Riders who obtain $150 or more in donations will ride and dine for free.
Tickets for community members wishing to attend the chicken BBQ dinner or the afternoon event at Lighthouse Lanes are available at the CAC office, 301 Beech St. in Fulton and Lighthouse Lanes, Shampine Drive in Oswego.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the CAC’s Blue Ribbon Campaign.
Day of registration will begin at 2 p.m. with the ride beginning at 3 p.m.
