The Friends of Oswego County Hospice will host its fifth annual “Lights of Remembrance” memorial tree lighting on Dec. 3 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Eis House on Academy Street in Mexico.
“The holiday season is a time for us to look back on the special people we’ve lost, that were part of our yearly celebrations. We hope that people can take some time out of their busy schedules to honor the memory of their loved ones,” said Deb Bishop, executive director of the Friends of Oswego County Hospice.
Oswego Middle School’s Con Brio chorus, under the direction of Paul Brewster, will perform holiday music at the tree lighting.
Memorial ornaments for the remembrance tree are available now for purchase.
Those interested can choose from a locally made crochet snowflake, a blue nylon beaded butterfly, a Lenox Crystal gold angel, a machine embroidered angel in white with a poinsettia detail and a machine embroidered angel with choice of ribbon (purple or pink).
Each ornament will bear the name of who it is in memory of.
Ornaments can be purchased from the Friends of Oswego County Hospice.
They will also be available for purchase at the tree-lighting ceremony, and The river’s end bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St., on Nov. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All monies raised through the ornament sale will help support Oswego County Hospice patients and their families.
The tree lighting is open to anyone who has lost loved one, not just individuals whose family and friends were Oswego County Hospice patients.
The tree will remain on display at the Eis House throughout the month of December.
