OSWEGO, NY – Lakeside Artisans will feature the work of co-op member Carol Lindo for the month of September.
While working for the US Postal Service for 20 years, Lindo wanted something creative to do in her spare time that would be a satisfying venture.
She started by taking oil painting lessons from local professional artist Norman Roth.
Lindo said, “He showed me how to look for the subtle differences in values of the world around us.”
SUNY art instructor Judith Ann Benedict introduced Lindo to watercolor painting in an adult education class.
“These artists gave me the spark that pushed me into exploring the world of color,” Lindo said.
She and her husband are “snowbirds” spending the winter in Lake Placid, Fla., where she attends workshops at the Cladium Art Co-op.
Lindo was one of the founding members of the Fair Haven Treehouse Gallery and the Curious Moon artists’ co-op, also in Fair Haven.
She enjoys the “comaraderie of being a member of the Lakeside Artisans, the exchange of ideas and obtaining insights into other fields of artistic expression.”
She thinks it allows her to expand and grow as an artist.
Lakeside Artisans is located in Canal Commons, at 193 W. First St. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
Visitors to the gallery may fill out a card to be entered into a free drawing for a print by Carol Lindo.
The drawing will take place on Sept. 30.
