OSWEGO, NY – This summer enjoy some family fun and free books by participating in Family and Books (FAB) with your child and learn how to be your child’s first teacher! Once a week for two weeks, LVOC will be hosting Family Literacy events at each of these libraries:

• Oswego Public Library – August 20th and 27th, 10:30a.m. to 12:30p.m.
• Hannibal Public Library – August 11th and 18th, 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m.

According to a survey commissioned by TD Waterhouse USA, a lack of literacy is the greatest threat to our children’s future. This survey found that one-third of Americans identified illiteracy as a more urgent issue to address than poverty, healthcare, and the environment. Additionally, deficient access to books was recognized as one of the leading causes of diminished literacy skills in children.

Play an active role in your child’s education – come join the Family and Books program and jumpstart your child’s learning today! Pre-registration is required. To register for any of the sites, please call LVOC at (315) 342-8839 or email us at [email protected]
