Fulton, NY – Local eateries, restaurants, and food stores throughout Oswego County are doing their part to help make this year’s Annual United Way Annual ‘Stone Soup’ the best ever. Scheduled for Thursday, December 10th, the United Way’s Annual ‘Stone Soup’ Holiday Luncheon, which is open to the public, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in St. Joseph’s Parish Center on West First in Oswego. The festive holiday event serves as a fundraiser to help stock the shelves of food pantries throughout Oswego County.

“Our Annual “Stone Soup” Holiday Luncheon is a reflection of the United Way’s ‘Live United’ concept,” said Luber. “We are all connected. When you reach out and help someone in need that action has an effect that reverberates throughout the community. By supporting the United Way you not only bring comfort to those in need, you help inspire others to lend their support and ultimately enable us and our member agencies to serve even more families and individuals.”

“Thanks to the support we’ve received from area businesses, and the efforts of our wonderful planning committee, chaired by Jim Mahoney, attendees can look forward to enjoying a delicious luncheon, spreading some holiday cheer with their friends and neighbors, and helping to feed those in need in our community.”

For a $5.00 donation attendees will enjoy a tasty lunch featuring delicious homemade soups from Aunt Mary’s Catering, Canale’s Restaurant and Vona’s Restaurant; salad courtesy of C’s Farms and Davis Brothers, fresh baked rolls from Bosco & Geers; desserts from Cakes Galore and SUNY Oswego Auxiliary Services; and coffee and cookies from Tim Horton’s. All proceeds from the event, including the table decorations, consisting of Dements spaghetti sauce and pasta, provided by Giovanni Foods and Paul’s Big M, will be donated to food pantries throughout Oswego County.

Nick Canale Jr. of Canale’s Restaurant, a long time supporter of the United Way, is happy to be a part of the United Way’s Holiday Luncheon and is looking forward to the event. “The United Way’s Holiday Luncheon is a great way for the community to come together and support the United Way’s efforts at this important time of the year. Giving to the United Way is a great way to have an impact on numerous programs that serve those in need right here in Oswego County.”

Committee Chairperson and United Way Board Member, Jim Mahoney echoed those thoughts “With the increased demand that our food pantries will be facing this holiday season we are hoping that our Holiday Luncheon will help them meet that demand,” said Mahoney. “In addition to the $5.00 donation we are asking attendees to please bring non-perishable food items that we can give to the food pantries as well so that the food pantries can keep their shelves stocked throughout the holidays.”

The United Way’s ‘Stone Soup’ Holiday Luncheon will also feature a number of great door prizes donated from area businesses as well as live entertainment from the vocal group, Concinnity, who will add a festive atmosphere to the event by performing a number of holiday favorites.

For more information, or to make reservations to attend the United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Annual Holiday Luncheon, contact your United Way office at 593-1900 no later than Tuesday, December 9th.
