Local Man Charged With Sexual Abuse

OSWEGO, NY – On Tuesday (December 16), the Oswego City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division began an investigation into an allegation of sexual abuse involving a child that had occurred within the city of Oswego.

As a result of the investigation, Joshua D. Chase, 31, formerly of 169 E. Sixth St., Oswego, was arrested and criminally charged with the following today (December 19):

Sexual abuse in the 1st degree – subjects person to sexual contact and the other person is less than 11 years old –  Class D Felony

Course of sexual conduct against a child in the 2nd degree – subjects a person to sexual conduct over a period of not less than three months in duration and engages in two or more sexual conducts with a child less than 11 years old –  Class D Felony

Forcible touching – Class A Misdemeanor

Endangering the welfare of a child – Class A Misdemeanor

It is alleged that the defendant subjected a victim less than 11 years of age to sexual contact on several different occasions between May 2014 and December 2014.

Chase was arraigned in Oswego City Court by Judge Roman and released on $2,500 cash bail.

He has a return court date of January 22 at 9:30 a.m.
