Work could soon be going on inside the closed Golden Corral restaurant on Rt. 481 to turn it into the fifth Little Lukes childcare center.
The site plan for the conversion goes before Fulton’s Planning Commission tonight.
“Pending approval, we hope to open a childcare & preschool program in Fulton before summer,” Executive Director Darci Powers said in an e-mail.
The Fulton location would join Little Lukes outlets in Oswego, Radisson, East Syracuse and Watertown. It would employ 35 people and offer daycare, preschool and special needs services to as many as 70 children.
In the e-mail, Powers noted that “SCIS (special class inclusion setting) preschool offered by Little Lukes boasts a certified special education teacher and in-house physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.”
The former buffet restaurant was purchased last Sept. 10 by a partnership called Strategic Domains, LLC., according to the county’s property tax database. Strategic Domains does not list its partners on its public filing with the state Division of Corporations and a question e-mailed to a company spokesperson asking for the names of the owners and whether they have other business interests was not answered.
The address given for the partnership is also the address of a company called Rehab Resources, which provides therapy care and consulting services.
The building and nearly 1.5 acres of land was bought for $292,000, the database reports.
The building and land are assessed at $300,000. Records show the owners of the site in 2010 paid $15,470.16 in county, city, school and library taxes.
