Long Singles Match Highlights Buc Tennis Loss To Liverpool

A marathon third singles match lasting two and a half hours highlighted the Oswego and Liverpool girls’ tennis match on Monday as the Warriors scored a 5-2 win over the Bucs.

Third singles Lindsay Rose got involved in a long battle with Lisa Sikora. Rose eventually won 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. However, Buc Coach Andrea DeSantis said, “Rallies lasted 15 to 20 shots. Both girls were exhausted during the third set. Lindsay pulled ahead by aggressively returning serves deep and moving her opponent from side to side.”

Jesse Lalonde once again played aggressively in the first singles and won 6-4, 6-2 over Sarah O’Hara. Lalonde took her match with confidence by getting her first serve in an trusting her fast paced baseline ground strokes.

Second singles Dominique Canale lost to Kaitlyn McJilton 6-3, 6-0.

In first doubles Jillian Doty and Marissa Canale lost 6-2, 6-0 to Kayla DiPaulo and Ashleigh Caruso whle in the second doubles Lauren Usherwood and Chandler Caroccio lost  7-5, 6-3 to Emily Zalewski and Amy Warner. In the third it was Mariah LaLande and Brennan Banta falling 6-3, 6-4 to Chloe Lombardo and Humma Sheikh while in the final match up Chelsea Geroux and Meghan Kelly lost 6-0, 6-1 to Ashley Williams and Adrianna Kiewra.

Oswego fell to 2-4 with the loss to the Warriors.
