M. Frederick Clemens, 92, a resident of Springside in Oswego, passed away December 5th at Crouse Hospital.
Born in Syracuse, he was the son of the late Myron and Bertha (Buckman) Clemens. He graduated from North High School in 1937. He was a WW II Marine veteran who served in the Pacific theater from 1942-46. He retired in 1981 from the US Postal Service after 33 years. After living in North Syracuse, he spent time in Florida and then returned to be with his family.
Fred was a self-taught artist, best known for his painted rocks featured at craft shows and the Regional Market. He was an avid stamp collector, loved music and dancing, swimming and gardening and was a volunteer at Oswego Hospital. He traveled extensively here and abroad.
He was predeceased by his wife of 38 years, Lucille May Gottwald in 1986 and their son, Bruce Alan in 1999.
Surviving are his two daughters Judy (Tom) Proud of Oswego and Barbara (Dean) Richardson of North Syracuse; his grandchildren, Christopher, Karyn, and Jeffery Patridge; Michael, Matthew and Mark Richardson; two great-grandchildren Lily and Frederick Patridge.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 1-3 at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St, Oswego. Service is immediately following calling hours at the funeral home.
