OSWEGO, NY – Madaliene Morgan Lambert, 91, a former resident of Oswego, passed away on Tuesday March 13, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cortland, NY, on May 15, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Bertha (Crosby) Morgan and was raised in McGraw, NY.
She graduated from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Postdam in 1941.
Madaliene was employed as a choral music teacher in both the Central Square and the Oswego City school districts before retiring after 24 years of service.
She was a devoted wife to her husband of 69 years, Leonard Lambert; loving mother to her five children, Jeannine (Edward) Sylcox of Wallkill, NY, Leonard (Robin) Lambert of Galway, NY, Cynthia (Donald) Blomquist of Walden, NY, Renee (Rick) Rider of West Coxsackie, NY and Richard (Thelma) Lambert of Syracuse, NY; and loving grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 7 of which are married; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by brother-in-law, Rene (Mary) Lambert of Havre de Grace, Md.
Throughout her life, Madaliene enjoyed reading, gardening, homemaking, and family gatherings.
She also maintained a dandelion free lawn and enjoyed winters in Florida.
A family statement reads, “Our mother’s love for her family is one of the many qualities that will be forever in our hearts.”
She was the first to laugh at all family gatherings and enjoyed her family immensely.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church.
Burial services will be in the Newburgh, NY, area at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor, NY.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday from 4 -7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Church in Oswego.
