OSWEGO, NY – After a lengthy investigation conducted by the Oswego County Drug Task Force and the city of Fulton Police Department, Jason Wayne Knopp (a/k/a John Slaughta), was arrested on Monday (June 23), on a sealed indictment warrant issued by Oswego County Court.
The indictment charges Knopp with three counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony.
According to the indictment, Knopp sold cocaine in the city of Fulton on three separate dates during the month of May in 2014.
When Knopp was arraigned on the indictment in Oswego County Court, bail was set at $20,000 cash bail or $30,000 secure bail bond.
On the day of his arrest, Knopp was also charged in Fulton City Court with the additional crimes of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a Class B Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor.
It is alleged that Knopp possessed 18 grams of cocaine and plastic bags used to package cocaine, as well as $1,300 in cash, at the time he was arrested on the warrant.
He was arraigned in Fulton City Court on these new charges, and bail was set at $20,000 cash or $30,000 secure bail bond.
Knopp is also charged by another Indictment filed in Oswego County Court with the crime of Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony, based upon a prior arrest from the city of Oswego Police Department.
That Indictment was pending at the time that the alleged sales of cocaine occurred.
The present charges merely represent an accusation that the defendant engaged in such conduct.
As a matter of law, defendant is presumed to be innocent of these charges.
