March Weather Was Pretty Normal

OSWEGO, NY – As far as weather goes, March was rather average.

“There wasn’t really a lot going on last month,” said Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.

The average temperature last month was 33.5 degrees. That’s just 0.4-degree below normal.

The highest temperature was 61 degrees on the 18th and the lowest was 7 degrees on the 3rd.

Total precipitation for March was 2.44 inches. That is just 0.08-inch above average.

The greatest precipitation in a 24-hour period was 0.82-inch on the 10th.

There wasn’t as much snow last month as there usual is in March. Snowfall totaled only 5.0 inches, which is 13.5 inches below average.

The greatest snowfall in a 24-hour period was 3.0 inches on the 6th.

The area saw 47 percent of the possible amount of sunshine. That is 4 percentages higher than normal.

The number of cloudy days, 14, was 4 below average.

The number of partly cloudy days, 12, was 4 above average.

The number of clear days, 5, was average.

There weren’t any thunderstorms in March. That is 1 below average.

There was 1 foggy day. That is average.

There were snow pellets on 1 occasion and ice pellets on 3 occasions.

There wasn’t any freezing rain.
