Marion Evelyn (Manson) Chipman, 89, of Oswego, passed away Tuesday evening.
She was a native of Springfield, Massachusetts, born to the late Howard J. and Mary T. Manson. She graduated from Classical High and went on to earn a degree from Bay Path College. Her first job was working at the Springfield Armory, where she did her part for the war effort.
Her children were born in East Longmeadow, MA; but she and her husband would eventually move their family to Paramus, NJ, Overland Park, KS and finally Fulton, NY, where she worked for the Fulton School District. Mrs. Chipman especially enjoyed drawing, painting, Bridge, gardening, watching her sons play sports and playing with her grandchildren. But her passion was playing the piano, which she did with gusto.
She was a Brownie Leader and a member of the Fulton Women’s Club. She volunteered at the A. L. Lee Memorial Hospital for many years. Marion was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Fulton. Mrs. Chipman was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Chipman.
She is survived by two sons, William R. (Marsha) Chipman of Missouri and Arizona and Robert K. Chipman of Oswego; a daughter, Janice M. Chipman of Mexico, NY. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren, Cary Chipman, Amy (Scott) Morken, Laura (Brian) Wills and Mark Chipman.
There are no calling hours. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
