Marleen S. Waloven, 61

OSWEGO, NY – Marleen S. Waloven, 61, a resident of 189 E. Fourth St., passed away on Monday Jan. 23, 2012, at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Delores (Carmen) Shapiro. She was a graduate of Oswego High School and CCBI.

She was employed with the Marine Midland Bank, Tops, Wal-Mart and was also an aide with the Oswego City School District.

Marleen enjoyed her family and friends.

She was a devoted wife and mother and her greatest joy was her two grandsons.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, John Waloven Jr.; three daughters, Sherie (Robert) DeStevens of Syracuse, Lorraine Waloven of Oswego and Valerie Waloven of Clay; two sisters, Karen (Jeffrey) Schultz of Long Island and Maxine (Edward) Molloy of Rochester; and her two grandsons, Brandon Waloven and Jacob DeStevens.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Dowdle Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

  2. I am so very saddened to learn of Marleen’s passing. She was such a wonderful person, I looked forward to running into her in stores and talking to her. Again, she was such a wonderful person and will be missed by so many.

  3. Prayers to Marlenes family she was a great person and was willing to help whenever needed. Our years at TOPS together were great and our tops family is close and is there if anything is needed. May god be by your familys side while they grieve. God bless all of you and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

  4. KNEW MARLEEN AND HER MOM FOR YEARS. LIVED ONLY A BLOCK AWAY AND MY GIRLS WENT TO SCHOOL WITH THE GIRLS. SORRY TO HEAR OF HER PASSING. SHE WAS SUCH A SWEET PERSON. SHE WILL BE MISSED BY MANY. SHE WAS ALWAYS SO PLEASANT WAITING ON CUSTOMERS.

  5. Very Sorry For Your Loss. Marleen would always go out of her way to speak to me, I went to school with her and she was such a Happy Person always. I spoke with her about a Month ago. I was in Shock when I heard …May God be with the Family and Marleen I’ll see you again Girl…Bob
