Mary C. Taormino, 78

Mary C. Taormino, 78; of Fulton died at University Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

She was born to the late Peter and Emma (Prestia) Monteleone in Jersey City, NJ. She has been a resident of Fulton for 58 years. Mrs. Taormino retired from General Electric, Syracuse in 1974 after 20 years of employment. She went onto waitress at Salem House, Fulton and then began working with the Fulton Consolidated School District in the Custodial Department where she retired from after 20 years of service.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years Phillip Taormino Sr. of Fulton, 4 children: Michelle (Keith) Vincent of Hannibal, NY, Phillip Taormino Jr. of Fulton, Linda (Scott) LeCuyer of NC, and Marie (Rod) Kouthoofd of Oswego, NY, 4 brothers: James Monteleone of NJ, Anthony Monteleone of Baldwinsville, NY, Alfred Monteleone, and John Monteleone both of Fulton, 7 grandchildren: Heather, Michael, Angela, Michelle, Alex, Ryan, and Bryce, 2 great grandsons: Joshua, and Jacob and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 AM Tuesday at Holy Trinity Church, Fulton where a mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Mary ‘s Cemetery, Fulton. Calling hours will be conducted from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Monday at Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. 2nd St. S. Fulton.

    I’m so sorry for your loss of your beloved Mary–she’s one special lady. We shared some great memories with the school district–especially at Volney & when you two came into the Business Office. You & your families are in my thoughts & prayers.

  3. Dear Mr T and your family: Just wanted to tell you ,and your family i’m truly sorry for you all losing the LOVE of your life’s. I remember way back in the 70’s and 80’s when you two work at Volney School as our custodians . You would always let us students help you stack the chairs in the cafeteria after lunch. You would ALWAYS reward us with a piece of gum. I remember you holding out a bag of it ,and telling us students take a piece of gum and thanking us for helping you. I always remember you tell us,” Mary ” was your special girl. You could tell you guys TRULY loved one another. You were both super people to us ALL there at Volney. I want to offer you all my thoughts ,prayers, and my condolence . May god bless you all in this sad, and lonely time in your life’s . You two were find examples of a human being ! Bless You !

Mary was a second Mom to me for years, and was one of the sweetest people anyone could know. I feel like I lost a member of my family.
