OSWEGO, NY – On December 11, Lake City Lodge No. 127, the Oswego Masons, gathered for a festive (open or public) Table Lodge in the magnificent banquet hall of their location, 765 E. Seneca St. in Oswego.
The night was also a “Brother-Bring-A-Friend” night where members are encouraged to invite guests who may have interest in Masonry.
There were about 30 at the gathering, including the wives and invited guests.
A Table Lodge Ceremony is a fun and party-like dinner of many courses, all of which are preceded by toasts.
A Table Lodge hearkens back to early Masonic traditions.
It is a custom that dates back many centuries to England, Scotland and France.
Lake City Victoria Chapter No. 205 of the Order of the Eastern Star (the Masonic women’s organization) put on the dinner, a marvelous repast of seven courses, the main course being a delicious chicken marsala.
Kudos to Worthy Matron Elyse Skiles and her team for a truly superlative feast.
Worshipful Master James Rizzo, (Master of the Oswego Lodge) welcomed special guests Right Worshipful Gary Visconti, the District Deputy Grand Master of the Oswego District, along with his lovely wife, Lynn, and Right Worshipful Garret Wikoff, Grand Steward of the Grand Lodge of New York.
A fun-filled fantastic night was had by all!
Due to the popularity of this evening, a district-wide Open Table Lodge is being planned for March 15, to be held in Oswego at Lake City Lodge.
