OSWEGO, NY – Anthony and Nya Buckalew are shown playing math games in Stacy Devendorf’s first grade classroom during the Riley Elementary School Math and Literacy Night that was held recently.
Math and Literacy Night provided students and teachers with a variety of games, activities, lessons, tips and more, according to Riley Elementary School Principal Dr. Linda Doty.
The theme of the event was “The Riley Café Serving up Math and Literacy”and included math and literacy activities called “appetizers” and “entrees” within each grade level classroom, as well as in the art, music and all-purpose room – PE, library, AIS reading and math rooms.
Students and parents were encouraged to travel down “Riley’s Healthy Highway” and these various rooms, to enjoy “menus” of activities.
According to Dr. Doty, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County and the Oswego Health Department also offered entrees to reinforce healthy choices and activities for students and their parents.
