Starting in the fall 2016 semester, New Visions students now intern with the city of Oswego Police Department, city of Oswego Code Enforcement Department and the city of Oswego Community Development Office.

The intern students will participate in police patrol ride-a-longs, code enforcement inspections and assist with economic development initiatives in the Community Development office.

“Having the city of Oswego participate in the New Visions program and giving local students from all over Oswego County the opportunity to gain first-hand, real life and skill knowledge of how city government works is mutually beneficial to the students and the city. The students get to participate in real life, real world situations and see how city government functions, what we encounter on a daily basis and exposes them to the basic duties of some of our city departments,” the mayor said. “We also benefit from having the exceptionally qualified students assist us in City Hall. I’m proud to welcome these students to City Hall and I appreciate their willingness to go above and beyond and participate in the enriching program that is New Visions.”
