PARISH – Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School senior Brittni Metcalf has committed to Mercyhurst University where she will play soccer this fall for the D-II school located in Erie, Pa.
Metcalf, will work towards a general education degree at the school, but is also thinking about school psychology in the future.
She will play defense for the Mercyhurst Lakers soccer team.
Metcalf said she chose Mercyhurst in part because of the scholarship package offered, but felt the fit for her at the school felt right.
The size of the school, the friendliness of the staff and athletes and the location from home all played a part in her decision process.
“It’s not too far away, but far enough to feel like you’re going away to college,” she said.
Parents Christy and Nathan Metcalf were on hand for the signing ceremony as were coaches George Parker and James Watros, Athletic Director Jamie Coppola, Brittni’s school counselor Rick Algie and Superintendent of Schools for the APW District, Eric Knuth.
Several of Brittni’s friends and soccer teammates were also on hand for the ceremonial signing.
