Mexico Elementary Students Synergize, Receive March Awards

MEXICO – Several Mexico Elementary School students were recently recognized for demonstrating the traits of being a good leader throughout the month of March.

During the school’s monthly Synergy Summit, 30 students from Universal Pre-Kindergarten to grade four were honored for exhibiting the following 7 Habits of Happy Kids: being proactive, having a plan, working first and play later, depositing good vibes in others’ emotional bank accounts, listening to other people’s feelings and ideas, valuing and learning from other people’s strengths and taking care of oneself.

Principal Robert Briggs said the March honorees have demonstrated those values both inside their classroom and throughout the building.

In front of their peers, teachers and special guests, certificates of achievement and leadership medals were presented to the following students:

Kenneth Ruszkiewicz, Gunnar Weber, Casey Rowe, Kara Williamson, Blake Ellis, Rhiannon Cotter, James Belden, Noah Compson, Lindsey McCann, Dorothy Clark, Olson Johnston, Christopher Compson, Deshon Green, Molly Dempsey, Jacelyn Collins, Aireana Link-Pape, Joseph Bateman, Emily Moroz, Jack McAuslan, Zoey Roberts, Tanner Rhinehart, Leland Bacon, Landon Halsey, Cloey Walker, Cameron Bartlett, Cayleigh Taylor, Sarah Brooks, Dylan Cole and Jackson Kelly.

Also honored due to his absence during the February Synergy Summit was Trevor Haynes.

The celebration concluded with a St. Patrick’s Day-themed Minute-to-Win-it challenge, where teams of students led by teacher assistant Lisa Buske and teacher Kathleen Butler raced to get five gold coins for the end of their rainbow.

Ultimately, Butler and her team of students were victorious.
