MEXICO – Magician Paul Antonio, Ghanaian Drumming, songstress Emalee Herrington, Mexico Brass and Fritz’s Polka Band followed by up-close and personal fireworks by Young Explosives will all be part of Mexico Point Park’ s annual free Lakeside Concert and Fireworks on July 8.
It all starts at 1 p.m.
All new this year, from 1 to 8 [.m., will be a craft fair sponsored by the Mexico Chamber of Commerce.
And, from 3 to 10 p.m., there will be a trolley from the parking field to the park making access to the park easier.
At 3 p.m., Paul Antonio will dazzle young and old with his magic.
Antonio captivates audiences as he performs amazing sleights-of-hand, mind boggling magic, makes comedy and laughter a big part of his show and includes various circus skills to help in engaging his audience.
From 4:30 to 6 p.m., John Heard with do a workshop on the drums of Ghana called Djembe.
Learn about the drums, the rhythms, and other various small percussions.
A unique opportunity to try your hand at drumming.
Once again, a local favorite, Emalee Herrington, will formally open the concert portion at 6 p.m. with the “Star-Spangled Banner” and then continue to entertain us with her songs.
No Mexico Point Park concert would be complete without Mexico’s own Mexico Brass.
Put on your Polish dancing shoes.
The featured musical presentation with be the famed Fritz’s Polka Band.
The band has received many awards and was the first polka band to appear at Woodstock. It has been inducted into the Syracuse Area Music Hall of Fame.
The incredible evening will end with a heart-thumping, eye-dazzling display of fireworks by Young Explosives.
Food by Garafolo’s and Barlow’s along with ice cream by Dollars for Scholars will be available for sale.
