Mexico To Light Up For Christmas Season

MEXICO – Christmas in Mexico wouldn’t be complete without the church bazaars, special offers by local merchants, free horse-drawn carriage rides, roasted chestnuts and caroling throughout the streets.

A trolley will be running throughout the day between local business stops for your convenience.

New this year will be a Light Up For Christmas in Mexico Parade.

The parade will line up at 4:30 p.m. and start at 5 p.m.

We ask that all participants find a way to light up their floats to help celebrate.

Parade applications are available at Pathfinder Bank and Unique Baskets & Gifts.

Cash prizes will be available for winning parade entries in the following categories:

Marching Unit, Judge’s Choice, and Christmas Spirit Award.

Each category winner will receive a $100 cash prize.

Following the parade, the tree lighting will take place in front of Cornell Cooperative Extension building on Main Street, followed by pictures with Santa.

Also new this year will be Storefront Decoration Contest hosted by the Greater Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

The winning storefront will be awarded $100.

Participants must email [email protected] to officially request to be entered for the contest.

All participating storefronts must be decorated by November 29.

The contest winner will be announced at the Tree Lighting Ceremony, December 2.

December 2 Tentative Schedule:

Church bazaars and craft shows starting at 9 a.m.
Elementary school craft fair with musical entertainment at 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Oswego Valley Railroad Association Holiday Train Exhibit 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Light Up Christmas in Mexico Parade starting at 5 p.m.
Christmas Tree Lighting (after the parade) with musical entertainment starting at 3 p.m.
Pictures with Santa at the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department the hour following the tree lighting.
