Michael Battista, 90

Michael Battista, 90, of West Second St. Oswego died Friday in Seneca Hill Manor.

Mike was born in Oswego, the son of the late Sylvester and Anna (DeSantis) Battista. Mike was employed with Taggart’s, prior to Breneaman’Hartshorn Inc. where he worked for thirty-seven years until his retirement. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific. Mike is a communicant of St. Joseph Church; he was an usher at St. Joseph Church, a member of St. Rocco’s, and a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Festival.

Mike was predeceased by his wife Carol Battista, daughter Arlene Oelenberger, sisters Carmella and Margaret Battista, Theresa Hibbert, and Rose Peterson.

He is survived by his daughters Barbara Carroll of Oswego, Linda Spicer of Oswego, brothers Thomas (Rose) Battista of Oswego, Sam (Anna) Battista of Oswego, sisters Frances (Jack) Hibbert of Oswego, MaryAnne (William) Pierce of Fulton, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 8:30 a.m. from the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, Oswego and 9:00 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home 147 West Fourth Street Oswego.

  1. Very Sorry for the Family… Mike and I worked together at Brenemans back in the Early 70’s…he was a very nice man and was well respected from all who knew him..God be with you all.
