Michael Jeffery Gorton, 57

FULTON, NY – Michael Jeffery Gorton, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018, at the age of 57.

Mike was born in Fulton, to the late Jeffery and Helaine (Wallace) Gorton.

Mike graduated with honors from G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton.

He attended Bethany College in West Virginia and graduated from Oswego State University.

Mike was a nationally recognized expert in the fields of sports collectibles and Breweriana.

Mike was a lifelong suffering Jets fan and enjoyed fishing for crappies and brook trout in Northern New York.

Mike lived life on his own terms and his priority was his family and friends.

Those that knew him are better off and those that did not are poorer for it.

There will be no funeral service or calling hours.

Burial will be held privately.

The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, has care of the arrangements.


  1. So sorry with an education and seemingly so smart, his life didn’t turn out better. 57…too early.

    I like Mike, even though he never agreed with any of my calls in a softball game..lol. I am not going to judge someone’s life on an hour of softball, or an hour of anything. We all have our moments…good or bad…I did too.

    So sorry..RIP

  2. Mike was a great guy . I’ve known him about 28 years.He was a great guy and I so enjoyed talking and laughing with him .he always made me smile with his infectious laugh. He started out a client of mine but over the years became a dear friend..he will be missed greatly. To Dave ,kim Hunter and Tanner and the rest of the family I am so sorry for your loss.I for one know my life was better just having mike in it .i will miss you my friend .
