Certified Nurse Midwife Brenda Pickhardt has joined the professional staff of both Oswego County OB-GYN, P.C. and Oswego Hospital’s maternity center.

Pickhardt recently graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with a masters degree in midwifery. She is board certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

The new midwife has more than ten years of experience as a labor and delivery nurse before becoming a nurse-Midwife. In addition, she earned bachelor’s degrees in nursing and business administration/accounting.

Pickhardt is looking forward to providing obstetrical services to area women in Oswego Hospital’s maternity center. She said she was impressed with the technology in place at Oswego Hospital and at the offices of Oswego County OB-GYN. The technology in Oswego will help her to provide exceptional care both in the hospital and office settings. Patient records of the practice are maintained using an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system which links the hospital with the provider’s private offices so that critical patient histories and office visit information can be accessed during delivery.

The new maternity center also has a state-of-the-art patient monitoring system that allows the physicians to track the progress of their laboring patients. These patients can be monitored through a secure web program whether the physician is at the office, at home, or in the maternity center. “These technology advances will enable myself and others to provide the best quality of patient care,” Pickhardt said.

In addition to her obstetrical duties, Pickhardt has extensive training in routine gynecological procedures and well woman care, and is eager to establish a patient following in Oswego area.

To make an appointment with Brenda Pickhardt, CNM patients can call Oswego County OB-GYN at either the Oswego office, 343-2590 or the Fulton office at 593-8393 or visit their website at www.ocobgyn.net to request an appointment.
