CANTON, NY – Kyle C. Miller of Hastings was among the 548 students awarded a degree at St. Lawrence University’s Commencement ceremony, held May 19 on campus in Canton.

Miller was awarded a degree in economics and is a graduate of Paul V. Moore High School.

St. Lawrence’s Commencement speakers were recipients John J. O’Shea, Class of 1974, an immunologist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH); Roger W. Ferguson Jr., president and chief executive officer of TIAA-CREF; and retired SUNY Canton President Joseph L. Kennedy.

All three received honorary degrees at the ceremony. The university’s North Country Citation was awarded to the Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence County.

St. Lawrence University is a private, independent liberal arts institution of about 2,400 students.

The educational opportunities at St. Lawrence inspire students and prepare them to be critical and creative thinkers, to find a compass for their lives and careers, and to pursue knowledge and understanding for the benefit of themselves, humanity and the planet.

Through its focus on active engagement with ideas in and beyond the classroom, a St. Lawrence education leads students to make connections that transform lives and communities, from the local to the global.
